hi, paragraph guy here:

In Donald Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech, he first told supporters that they would “walk down to the Capitol” and “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,” placing these comments early in the address. More than fifty minutes later, in a separate section of the speech, he used phrases such as “we fight like hell” while arguing that Republicans needed to stand firm in challenging the election results. In the BBC’s 2024 Panorama documentary, these widely separated moments were edited together so that Trump appeared to move directly from saying they would walk to the Capitol to saying “we fight” and “we fight like hell,” which removed the peaceful-march context and created the impression of a continuous, more incendiary call to action than existed in the original speech.

As I understand it, he is suing the BBC, who have already come out with an apology. the problem is that there is a good argument that they did this to make him lose the US election - the timing is clear - 1 week before the US presidential elections they published this "job". so Donald Trump has a very good argument and an apology smells like bullshit. the issue is how this actually works practically. the BBC is in an other country so it could get tricky.

This has nothing to do with free speech sad_aouita

We're talking about copy pasting parts of speech in order to frame a certain narrative which is illegal and the BBC should've known better but they don't because all these channels have been taken over by the far left and they can't help themselves.

I hope Trump drains them of every last penny LOL

BBC ain't the UK. If a foreign news agency is going to meddle with domestic US affairs, getting sued is slap on the wrist. They should say thank you.

A proper news agency would self correct BEFORE threat of legal. Reuters does this (usually)

Reuters did not do it when they manufactured the Amsterdam Story. Reuters is also UK based btw.

The BBC used to be the gold standard. well its not anymore.
