I was listening to a podcast a couple days ago in which a guest mentioned "until the Democrats can produce a candidate who is willing to say there are only two genders, male and female, they're going to keep losing."

A 2023 poll found that 65% of Americans — up from 59% in 2021 — believe there are only two genders: male and female. At the same time over in Scotland, a convicted rapist who was trans-identifying was initially sent to a women's prison, a decision only reversed due to public backlash; attitudes on the issue were especially negative when people were given photographs of the individual. (pictured below)


So now that we're in 2025 moving forward, what's my fellow enlightened jspers think about this? Would a presidential candidate for the Democrats dare violate such a taboo? Would it be beneficial to the candidate, or would it harm his or hers prospects?

*I know this is a sensitive topic and a lot of people have strong feelings and opinions about the issue, so I'd like to remind everyone that trans-identifying individuals often suffer from a myriad of mental illnesses so let's be thoughtful and inclusive

trans people aren't mentally ill, its just that 95%+ of trans people happen to have mental illnesses. total coincidence.

Well Obama said a marriage is between a man and a woman, didnt leave much room for he-shes

after years of trying to gaslight people into thinking that being trans is not a mental problem? I don't think so. In the end the way they handled themselves with this topic just made it worse for people who are actually trans.

I don’t think a candidate will say it, but I don’t think it’s of any importance. Much like you don’t need a candidate that says the sky is blue.

Never understood why people care about this. Does it hurt your feelings if someone else labels themselves with a gender? Is there some kind of deeply rooted insecurity driving this?

Trans people in sports is different because sometimes it affects an actual competition with stakes. But this is also a non-issue. There are like 10 trans people competing in the entire country, just ban them or figure it out with science or whatever. Who even cares

Don't think its overly important, just be neutral to it all and ignore that garbage banter. There's an entire segment that is the majority who are struggling financially right now with no end in site and they sure are not doing any better under Trump than they were Biden, so that base that Trump tried to appeal to and successfully did will still likely be available to be swayed come 2028 unless somehow things turn around significantly for the average American, doubt that happens, a presidential term just isn't long enough frankly to turn the ship at this point in my opinion. You might be able to start the turn, but the majority are going to be struggling I suspect.

Completely irrelevant in terms of things that actually matter. But I realize labels are extremely important to a select few who claim to hate labels.
