I think the only industry that was complaining about body counts when I was schooling was EE and maintaining the vast two phase infrastructure. Lots of former Navy vets work those positions.

The US can isolate itself from China and Europe. However, the US cannot stop the rest of the world from trading with China and Europe.

The only way to justify tariffs is if you believe other countries will cave in and give concessions to remove tariffs. No one, not even Donald Trump, believes tariffs should just stay forever. He is telling you that tariffs will be temporary pain
