Trump has stated for many years he wanted European NATO members to pitch in more towards the alliance. All of a sudden he has a spat with Ukraine’s president and BOOM an $840b plan is drafted to rearm Europe.

I know some weird person will come in here and dry to grasp at straws but Trump accomplished a HUGE goal by simply being himself.

If you're talking about helping Europe become more self-sufficient, you are absolutely right. This will come at a cost, as America's sphere of influence will keep receding, since it takes more than nukes to be a superpower.

Can’t recede too much with only $840b. The US spends that YEARLY by themselves pretty much. Europe will still need the US for a very long time at this rate.

This 840B is actually to supplement existing spending, it doesn't represent total yearly spend for the EU. Along with some of the soft power relinquished by giving up the USAID "bribes" which China will gladfully take on, the US will become a smaller global player in the next few years, maybe not such a bad thing depending on who you ask.

It’s also across 10 years and many nations correct?

China still has a long ways to go. Last I checked the US Economy was like 18 trillion bigger than them still and military spending isn’t even close.

EDIT: 11t bigger

I've watched the entire 2016 Republican primary cycle and my conclusion to that even is that Trump is an Idiot Savant.
There were times when you thought he would pounce and the outcome would be hilarity, but he completely missed the most obvious opportunity.
He has common sense and speaks his mind, but unfortunately he is a boomer, and as such has boomer takes on such things as the Holocaust.

I'm sure you can look this up instead of making assumptions, it's a 150B loan + 650B fiscal optimizations over the next 4 years to move that spending towards mil spending.

There's nothing to stop this from increasing dramatically if Russia decides to step. Thanks to America's "world police" stance the EU countries didn't need to spend a lot on military until now, but there's a lot of manufacturing capacity available locally, so the money can stay inside the EU.

So 4 years. Still not touching the US spending that much yearly solo when spread amongst nations.

That X justifies Y because of Z.
Even though Z is a completely made up variable.
