How would such a system work? There are 300 million people in the country. They all have different ideas of where taxes should go. You'd need mechanisms to resolve these disputes and decide where they go, say by a democratic vote, to elect representatives, who then pass legislation on your behalf. A republic. And beholden to a constitution and constrained by courts, and with the decisive action of a singular executive. Well any such system would be bogged down in a bureaucracy needed to carry out operations on such a large scale, eventually creating opportunity for public graft, corruption, self-sustaining aimless bureaucrats and boondoggle projects. And if they reached a critical mass, the only solution would be for the voting public to election someone on a promise to clean house and drain the swamp. You are here.
Pretty much just courts, infrastructure, post service, and a Navy.
There would be no 'Social Contract', or social services bullshit of any kind, there would be no liability to nearly all Federal Laws for State Citizens, and the laws of the States themselves would have no wiggle room to be unconstitutional obligations imposed on Federal Public Offices.
It would be a free market paradise, and prime example for the rest of the world to follow.
