Waste is absolutely insane, $130 for a screw makes complete sense, it's like this in other places too e.g. analytical bioscience. We paid $500 for a plastic rack to hold tubes, a nice Austrian-engineered plastic tube holder

You realize our budget just got worse under Trump's first term right?

The federal debt held by the public went up, from $14.4 trillion to $21.6 trillion.

That's nearly double. What makes you think these two overweight clowns are gonna change anything?

Even with all the federal spending cuts we aren't gonna balance our budget. It requires are more strategic plan than just blanket removal of federal workers and programs. The economic shock of these cuts is more of a problem than they actually save in the long run too. Most economists, including Conservative ones, all agree on this.

It's a show.

What is the strategic plan?

Bolded is not true. You guys are really good at bitching and moaning about what's done with no good alternative solution being proposed. It's very easy to be a little bitch and bemoan any change, it would take some real brain power though to provide good alternatives.

How do we reduce the annual deficit of 2 trillion? How do we reduce our 36 trillion dollar debt?

It's not true? Please give me some references then. I've spoken to multiple conservatives I work with and there seems to be consensus. (So I am going off on this and I'm happy to be proven wrong.) Some of which work in finance.

Military spending cuts are definitely supported by me.

That's 50% more for those of us not mathematically impaired.
70% of it was emergency Covid spending, which never should of happened, but its a complete farcical joke to pretend a democrat wouldn't of pushed to take it further.
I Agree with the sentiment that he should of cut the DOD, and not expanded the VA health care system (99% of Those people are welfare leeches)

You made the claim, you support the claim this is usually how arguments work mate.

I work in finance, i have an econ degree and i disagree, so i don't care about your supposed consensus.

But again please share the strategic plan you have in mind to address this level of deficit and debt, I'm more curious to hear solutions.

I agree it was an impossible situation. In regards to covid and much of that was covid relief funding, although a lot of it was allocated very poorly under Trump; easy to see in hindsight and impossible to know if Hillary would've done better. Probably not. But everything suggests that Democrats have done a better job at growing our economy than the Republicans. Between Trump and Biden's policies we have had massive inflation but instead of Trump fixing the issue he's going after unrelated cuts because he knows if he were to go after those responsible for profiting off our inflation have more power than some overpaid federal work forces.

That is to say, all of this is smoke and mirrors. It's "saving" and misdirection. At the very best, it might break even. At the very worst; we crumble and fall into third world territory.
