It's comical that people think tariffs will spark some type of increased domestic production when evidence points to the contrary. Tariffs DO NOT increase domestic production.
Yes and they don't think critically because domestic production requires a lot of imported materials. Look at something like house building and construction with timber prices.
There might be some, very little, businesses that thrive from it but on average it'll make things worse for domestic production. On top of that; it ruins our trade relations with our allies and American people have to pay more and we're already paying way too much for just about everything: except junk food.
