That's the digital version of the alexandria library while also being a reminder of how good the internet used to be while also still being relevant as of today to backup sensitive articles that might get deleted leading to gaslight 'this never happened'

Sort of on/off subject but when Julian Assange released treasure troves of incriminating data with WikiLeaks I immediately downloaded the full file and transferred it to an external hard-drive. The next thing I did was save it to "Google mail" and sent it to a few friends and family.

That same day in less then an hour after it was released. The NSA/CIA/FBI and every other 3 letter agency started just removing/deleting all the most incriminating information within the document. I couldn't believe that in "real time" they were just deleting it off the internet itself. Once I saw this I grabbed my hard drive and went to a friends house. I asked him to open the email and the file so I could see if he "got everything". 30% of the full file was GONE that means that as I sent it or as he received it they just deleted it.

I opened a laptop and plugged in my external and showed him and we were both like god damn they did "heavy damage control". Literally any document that incriminated the US government of a war-crime or some other shady deal was just "wiped off the internet".

Fast forward now to all the "shadow banning" "de-listing" and "algorithm manipulation" and you see real quick why just like Edward Snowden Julian Assange had to hide in an embassy for years while our government wanted to basically kill/torture them.

Don't know if the video still exist where they are pulling Assange out of the Ecuadorian embassy and he's digging his nails into concrete knowing full well he's about to be tortured.

I knew as soon as he released the file it would be manipulated but I didn't think it would happen instantaneously. It's like 100 guys at the CIA/NSA/FBI were told "if anything makes our government look bad scrape it from the internet" but if it incriminates anyone else like for example there was blueprints of bombs/guns/etc. that China was selling to Zimbabwe of all places and they left that in there. Why? Makes China look bad.

I was a lot younger then but I was at least smart enough to put it on an external hard drive and when I do plug it in to view the file I'm offline.

I learned right then and there that "censorship" was already in "Full Effect" that's why unto this very day I know all information listed at the tops of pages isn't the "honest truth" it's the "half truth". You'd have to do a full deep dive down the rabbit hole and even then they place "bread crumbs" there to mislead you.
