Americans being huge huge debt based consumers is what made the ultra wealthy invest in America in the first place and even more so now.
Every US citizen with a Social Security Number is basically collateral our government uses to show other governments we will go into deep debt and be willing to pay it off over time.
i.e we buy shit we can't even afford with money we don't have.
American consumerism may look bad now but most Americans now "have everything" so their consumption has gone down because most finally realized "they can't afford something" and they also "don't need it whatsoever".
Our ability to be wage slaves who take on debt and pay it off over time is great for any country looking to make a dollar on a dollar.
It's why countries BUY our DEBT into the TRILLIONS now collectively. They know we will pay it off(individually or as a collective).
Good slaves are rewarded with modern technology and 1st world privileges.
Businees around the world want to have their products in Walmart/Costco/etc. because they know people who can't afford it will take on debt just to say they have it.
Mortgagae a house with only 10% down and your paying a mortgage for 35-40 years.
Lease a car and pay stupid amounts of money only to never own it.
You can go down the line and say wow Americans are fucking dumb. So dumb are consumerism made us the most popular circus country on Earth. It's why so many try and come here. To be a part of the circus insanity.
