In the past few months, Springfield Ohio has become a flashpoint in the immigration debate, and expected to feature in the presidential debate.
The rusting town had shrunk from a population of 80,000 to 60,000 when it suddenly surged back up with another 20,000 haitian illegal aliens on temporary protected status, granted all the way back in 2010 by the Obama administration after the Haiti earthquake and repeatedly extended indefinitely, ended under Trump and renewed under Biden.

Springfield has an assembly plant for Honda and distribution center for Dole, which attracted the influx to pick up jobs around $19/hr in a relatively low cost of living area. However, the huge number of migrants effectively displaced residents and took over all existing housing and rentals- landlords have withdrawn from the low-incoming subsidized housing programs to give up rooms to Haitian migrants rooming together and paying high rent, and as a result some owners report 90%+ of units going to Haitians while locals complain of homelessness. That and a huge surge in violent crime and insurance costs, far above the national average.

Keep your cats indoors friends, foxes and coyotes are the least of your concerns in Springfield Ohio.

It's cheap and easy to move impoverished people into a community.

My home town was pretty diverse, being a medical hub. Actually was named number one city to raise a family for many consecutive years. Like Twin Cities, mass amounts of Hmong and Somali, but not as rampant crime. I do think the Hmong found ways to integrate better than Somali, and second, and third gen shows it. As far as I know, those groups were legal migration based of refugee status. Those opposing were more indifferent when compared to the vocal opposition of today with mass illegals

I also come from a very heavy hmong populated area. very respectful people and by 2nd to 3rd generation they're entirely integrated. high family values and hard working people.

most people dont realize that hmong people are basically US vietnam war veterans. they were on the ground reconnaissance that provided the US with intel against the vietkong communists. without them many thousand more soldiers would have likely died by walking into traps. after the war they were refugees constantly running from the vietkong before the CIA finally got the US to honor their promises to evacuate them and resettle them here. they keep too small of panfish, but otherwise they're caused almost zero issues for such a large migration.

Somali's, average IQ of Somalians is like 66.
