Ran over Bernie, ran over RFK through underhanded means, somehow have a presidential candidate that was crowned with literally zero input from voters. I don't think he was a plant, just a disgruntled Democrat who leveraged his famous last name and the political vacuum created by Biden's decline into a relevant third party bid. Then, when it became clear his own candidacy would be going nowhere, he parlayed his 2-4% support into the promise of a cabinet position he's interested in.

Also, just for the record: without a Libertarian spoiler candidate forcing Perdue into a runoff during the 2020 Georgia Senate election, Democrats wouldn't have had a trifecta from 2021-23 and Biden's entire agenda would have been dead in the water from day one. The bulk of his legislative legacy simply wouldn't exist. So it's not like third party candidates only ever hurt one side, it cuts both ways.
