Hot take: that is merely a public "shot across the bow" to make sure Google continues to perform Democrat field tilting, as in the past. It will all go away after the election if the Dems win.

Will just likely separate certain things and simply get around it. Doubt there's anything meaningful that will happen. Just separate off the Android side.

Amazon, Apple, Meta are all facing similar fights with the DoJ.

That actually makes sense. The DEMS have two options. One, threaten fro bribes, or threaten for lefty optics.

Not a huge fan of Google lately, break em up. The combination of their monopoly on AI, search results, user data, user tracking, and physical device root OS is all powerful. Web standards are slow to roll out, but Google and a couple other firms almost always dictate the features or release their own as experimental to direct industry.

Waste of tax payer money imo. do they deserve it? yes. will they just conspire behind closed doors as a bunch of smaller corporations anyways? yes.

Google web will pay google AI to make functions for them that will sell more Google ads. why does making them split up their stock actually do anything? they'll just pay themselves instead of paying development costs.

There is value to the country and populace when there are many choices and expertise for things like infrastructure. Imagine if Google had their own Crowdstrike Microsoft moment and your backup system is Google site B. Your fd.

Edit also wouldn't tax man be able to take a cut for B2B transactions like selling ads or ad features. Maybe harder for Google to write off taxes with research growth nonsense
