This woman is very intelligent and eloquent. I put this here with this title as its the specific topic addressed, however, this is also associated with concepts such as white privilege and that only white people can be racist. Hearing this, I am curious about the perspectives on jsp on a few different topics.
I do expect a general line of thought despite the split party views here, as most of us are mid 20s-40s and didn't grow up in the most recent wave of education in high school.
Can only white people be racist?
My opinion: No, this is obviously false. The biggest claim that the public states this to be true is that because of white privilege and power dynamic in the county, that white people are the only party that can be racist because if they are, it would have the biggest impact on the culture and society as a whole. My basic argument against this is that people are individuals and if they view their race as superior and demean other races, whether internally or externally, they are racist. I'd argue that the concept of racism is metaphysical and white people could be racist against other white people. But then you could argue it goes into the realm of classism and other things.
White privilege, does it exist?
I actually think it does. But not because society gives us advantages, but because the general white household culture does. This is probably something a lot of people here will dislike, on both sides, but white privilege exists because white people are more likely to have family units, commit less crime, and have more access to education. This DOES exist because the white people were the vast majority, even immigrants during the industrial revolution from across Europe, etc. However, it simply is because we are in a cultural shift from things like the Jim Crowe laws, and in a few generations that potential gap would be less and less over time, especially if the current generation on all sides wizen up and turn away from sex culture, rap culture, and all those sorts of things.
It is also very destabilized by open boarders and mass immigration that really isn't necessary in our current day and age. We really need to locken up and tighten down our boarders and focus internally to get everybody up to the same level of 'privilege' across the country, but this is disharmony is actually mostly caused by the left.
The left plays a role of disharmony, and I won't say the right plays a role of harmony, but rather a role of order. We all know that chaotic good and orderly evil can exist. There is a 'harmony' that is achieved through swapping through both in the current system but obviously its becoming almost unobtainable.
I could go on but that is the gist of it.
Lastly, should there be Reparations?
Fuck no, there should be no 'individual reparations,' - I am not against the general public being given reparations for past wrongdoings. But, it isn't a privilege. If anything, the unity of the idea could be brought to leverage cultural/societal change on the community level. Why give individuals money when you can take whatever budget you'd have for that and improve the lives of the people in that area by improving infrastructure and other things to invite business growth and education for people in that area? If they REALLLY have to do it, it should be done that way.
Giving money to people who are down and out doesn't immediately make that money be used effectively. It is just a way to win people over to their side and create bigger rifts because you will get people yelling from both sides whether or not it should be a thing.
