Rough sleeping can now be punished with prison time.
Biden needs to do something about this asap before they make it legal to shoot anyone on minimum wage.

That's not a stretch of the imagination, this is accurate foreshadowing, very intuitive mind, A++

If you had asked me 5 years ago if the current ruling was a stretch of imagination I would have said yes.
This is slavery being forced on the destitute in a first world country.

2024 homeless aren't like 1950's homeless.

mental asylums need to come back.

e1- in the 1930s and 1940 there were hobos, this term was loosely used for decades.
However in the 1950s and 1960s there were homeless.
It's a fascinating topic actually.

e2- This is a states and local issue.
I can't imagine the 'sanctuary cities' throwing homeless into prisons.

The ruling is a little bit more nuanced than sleeping outside = prison as it would depend on what the local laws are, but yeah in some places it could effectively criminalize being homeless. Considering half the problem is caused by governments it’s a bit cruel.

Any solutions for solving the problem at the source?

In America it's a lot harder than just building a bunch of tiny homes, maybe try the prison model, company housing for low wage manufacturing so the slavery is optional.

Soft homeless policy has made cities across the West Coast from San Fran to Vancouver a disaster. Present a solution that does not compel every city dweller to live in a drug infested slum.

I believe the ruling concerns things like tent cities, or... massive squatting.

Most of the 3rd world immigrants do things like this. Like 3rd world immigrants have done is Paris, for example.
There have even been a few of these immigrant tent cities, springing up in the US.

They are... dangerous, to say the least.

I seriously doubt that they will go around tossing the harmless old guy on the street corner asking for change, into prison.

June 28 (Reuters) - Civil rights groups warned that Friday's ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the constitutionality of punishing people for sleeping outdoors would exacerbate homelessness, while some politicians welcomed the power to clear the tent encampments that are being seen increasingly across the country.
