Yep, there is a aipac lobby... But also:

- the fact its a proxy in middle east. Meaning geostrategic interests and a boost for military industrial -lobby-
- a "religious" goal for many anti-semitic americans who want to watch jews and muslims to kill each others

Any strong lobby group influences US foreign policy to a certain degree, be it Israeli, Saudi, Chinese or South Korean groups. None of them controls US foreign policy.
