Christ need not return in the flesh for he is the embodiment of truth and the essence of his being and that message are imprinted within human consciousness for all time. Similar to a "genetic memory" he is the "Logos" or symbol of "God".

The revelation spoken of in the Bible is not a physical war amongst "good vs evil" but rather the mental/spiritual struggle within all beings that YOU are not just an EGO(body/mind). You are not just the "flesh" but a part of the "whole"(where the word HOLY actually comes from). You are God(existence itself in all of it's totality. All of it's beauty and grandeur).

Most practitioners of the Abrahamic faith would say that's "blasphemy" you cannot be "God the Father" you cannot be "God the Son" you cannot be "God the Holy Spirit" but Jesus said that's what WE ALL ARE not "just him" and that the "Kingdom of Heaven is within you".

Him dying on the cross shows he did not have the "magical powers" so many attribute to him but that he was a MORTAL man. A HUMAN being and not some all powerful avatar. That's why when someone truly knows "thyself" knows "God" they say THAT.

This was a message directly to the highest echelons of power during that time that the "power" they thought they had over the "illiterate peoples" of that time was an illusion and that Jesus(a common man) with NOTHING gave the people of his time the HOPE/FAITH to find in their hearts the courage to overcome the "worldly things". Jesus showed them the way with his WORD alone. At a time when most if not all peoples couldn't read and write he "showed them a way" through the "essence of his being".

Jesus is here now. He isn't coming back. He never left. He dwells in the heart of all men who seek him.
