Funding has been cut because all the "shots" going off in the Chicago area are in predominantly black/latino neighborhoods and so therefore its deemed "racist software" "racist algorithm" just racist math!

So instead of everyone's safety being prioritized we went for "peoples feelings" and a "false sense of security"

Can't wait to hear about the kids that wind up dead this summer because we discontinued something that's meant to keep the public(children especially) safe.

&&&&&& by not having a police response to shots fired just enables the gangs even more and in summertime will translate to more innocents dead in the crossfire.

This was one of the few things the CPD did right over the years because it immediately send a police presence to where the gun shot originated. Now those same citizens are going to hear the gunshot and get ZERO response.

Get ready for the summer of love in Chicago and by love I mean death

Chicago is all about kids shooting kids… even if they kept this in place the police aren’t even allowed to do foot pursuit last I heard.

I don't blame cops for not responding to shots fired because there is no sense in dying over a "drug/gang/turf dispute" but this gun detection system forced officers to be honest and at least "respond" to the area where shots were fired.

Even if they had zero intention to get out of their cop car(likely case) at least they are in the vicinity if shit goes beyond gang on gang. There is no such thing as a Chicago police force there is only a Chicago police presence.

Chicago cops can no longer respond effectively due to changes in policy and changes in weaponry. Imagine having a pistol in-between two gangs shootings saw'd off AK's.

Not only that Chicago cannot retain it's police officers and the department has been hit by consistent suicides amongst its ranks. Low morale. Anti-police woke policies. Low pay. I could go on.

Systems like this make it easier to catch criminals and race/ethnicity should not be a "factor" in "gun detection". It's a woke joke lol

As if it was a major surprise that there was no shooting on the North side and most of it was all S/W/E of the city.

The whole point is to reduce the likelihood of a crime being committed and for a lot of people in these communities even a cop driving down your street isn't a bad thing.

Are like 75+% gangs in Chicago Black/Latino yes and are they the ones setting off these gun detectors yes but that's the point. "Oh it's racist".

You missed the best part. They're waiting to cancel the contract until just after the DNC is hosted in Chicago, so they can protect the conference with shotspotter policing before ending it

They need a sneaker tracking system.

Need to deputize the migrants and have them police the hoods.
