https://dailycaller.com/2024/02/08/hawaii-supreme-court-claims-spirit-of-aloha-overrules-second-amendment/

Yesterday the supreme court of hawaii ruled that it is not bound by rulings from the supreme court of the united states, nor by federal laws or the constitution. Rather, Hawaii is bound by precedent from the historical native kingdom and the spirit of aloha and any federal law that they disagree with can be nullified arbitrarily.

The state of Hawaii adopted their de facto ordinance of nullification in a case bringing charges against a man for wearing an open carried pistol for self defense while hiking. As is a guaranteed personal right granted by the second amendment. But in a scathing essay, the hawaii court decided to reverse the judgment of the federal supreme court and rule the second amendment has no application to personal rights and applies only to some defunct anachronous militias.

After all, the supreme court of the united states is just some old farts in robes. The constitution is just some iron gall ink on an ancient sheepskin. Without a shared civic spirit there is no union and the words nothing more than wind. Will Joe Biden stand up to preserve our federal union? He's not quite the man Old Hickory was- as he related during the last nullification crisis:
Quote
Yes I have; please give my compliments to my friends in your State and say to them, that if a single drop of blood shall be shed there in opposition to the laws of the United States, I will hang the first man I can lay my hand on engaged in such treasonable conduct, upon the first tree I can reach.

Will the spirit of kamehameha rise from the ocean depths to lead his warriors against the tyranny of a constitutional republic where you can't even own any slaves to harvest sandalwood? Will Hawaii follow up its 'national divorce' by refusing to hold democratic elections and instead choose to award its delegates by kapu ceremony?

I think it was crunkt that linked a wiki page which mentioned Hawaii when he was referring to countries that the US invaded and gave democracy to. On that basis, I guess Hawaii is a country and therefore they are within their rights to self determine and get rid of the laws imposed upon them from the invader.

sorry for being childish :P

I've been hearing migrants from Mexico saying Texas and California are theirs and that the US stole the land and they could do whatever the fuck they want it's actually their country.

I suppose Native Americans could say the entirety of the United States is theirs too.

Hawaii saying it's their ancestral land and they don't have to follow constitutional laws. Sounds like it's par for the course :P

Truly this image

Spirit of Aloha might go down in history books as another footnote in the particularly dumb era of state vs federal rights
the 19th century was defined by pro and anti slavery advocates hashing out gambits and compromises over their sincere convictions and policies, including a judiciary desperately trying (and failing) to preserve the union like taney ruling in dred scott
the 21st century will be defined by judicial activists citing absolute fucking moronic gobbledygook in order to justify nonsense that they support no matter how much it violates their own supposed standards, making no sense even prima facie

spirit of aloha lmao

Imagine you've got an appeals case in a felony conviction with decades behind bars facing you over an unjust prosecution and you have to be heard by the same supreme court that issued the "what would Kamehameha I do?" ruling

Im surprised the conservative hoglets arent inspired by this, Texas is actively disobeying federal orders and the Trump trash crew is loving it. how are they not in favor of this as well?
