The far-right, would-be prime minister of Netherlands, says to Muslims, "get out", among other things. Feel free to google his many strong words and sentiments against immigrants and especially Muslim immigrants.

Could his election mean the rise of right-wing populism? I was reading a newsletter from People's Party of Canada and they were talking about how the tide of public opinion is reversing. Just a few years ago, Wilders' comments would have been considered racist, or incitement.

I know it's a small country, but its people are white, mostly. If white people there could elect someone like Wilders, that means it's possible in other white countries, too. This is why I feel his victory is significant. It heralds real change.

Wilders has been racist for decades, but have moderated his message lately to attract the votes in a power vacuum created by simultaneous: 1) Rutte leaving politics, 2) Kaag leaving D66, 3) Hoekstra leaving for EU job, 4) Omtzgit splintering from CDA into a new NSC party.

Wilders is actually a left leaning socialist (by US standards) with right wing stances on Muslim asylum seekers and Climate goals. He is not against migration per se and his party has many left leaning policies (healthcare, gay friendly, etc). Muslims literally vote for PVV in the Netherlands. Dutch politics is generally very left leaning.

Having said that he will have trouble arranging a majority to govern and assembling a cabinet as PVV didn’t grow any career bueracrats to take Ministry jobs - so I expect a revote in a year (where he might get even more votes as things are not improving).

His victory will only have been significant if he 1. is able to actually become PM and 2. is able to actually invoke meaningful change, neither of which is guaranteed.

Hi Black, you are from Germany, right? Germany is kinda close to the Netherlands. Do you hope that he will win, or do you hope that he will lose?

Watched some of his speeches. Older and newer ones.

This dude is a literal clown shit show. While i do agree with some things fundamentally, this guy sounds like an absolute retard.

I too think Islam has to fundamentally change and all societies ran and controlled by Islam are fundamentally incompatible with modern western morals, but this guy just sounds like a clown.

Yes, but I live far from the Dutch border, so I don't follow Dutch politics as closely as, say, those of Austria and Switzerland. What I primarily hope for is that he will be able create a paradigm shift and implement the more reasonable parts of his platform.
