With it being clear none of the gop runners are even close to knocking out trump from spot 1 at this moment in time

And with it looking like Biden is going to run

How did we get into this cluster of a situation, not just once but twice

With world turmoil on the rise having a figurehead capable is increasingly important. An interesting and disappointing phase of American politics

On age alone, neither should run. The Republicans aren't strong enough to get rid of Trump because of populism, the Democrats on the other hand are just a political machine that doesn't care that the average American doesn't want a old man that's borderline showing dementia.

if biden was a high school math teacher he'd have been asked to retire 10 years ago. but ok, he can run the entire country.

trump isnt far behind him, there's a slight gap but he's not fit to run either.

age limits and term limits are needed so badly. we're watching reagan 2.0, but nancy isnt running the show its a full team of politicians.

I don't know if it's dementia, but call it severe cognitive decline. I can't imagine how much adderall they must have put him on for the debate.

DeSantis doesn't have Trump's political talent. Haley is running in the wrong decade. It's interesting that if Haley drops, her support gravitates to DeSantis, but if DeSantis drops out, most of his support goes to Trump. The Republican base has checked out of the George W era.

I agree it’s not dementia, but there is undoubtedly “mild cognitive decline” which is fairly text book with Biden. It’s a definition that can legally cause an employer to terminate an employee but like snipa said they can run the country?

Trump is undoubtedly more charismatic than Biden and I think his own cognitive deficits are masked by his charisma at times. He is a lunatic though and his inflammatory jargon is not what I would want from the leader of the free world

The unfortunate thing is having neither of these two candidates take 2024 is a sentiment the majority of Americans /pard can get behind. Democracy ftl

I’m no expert but I think Nikki Haley probably has one of the better chances in a general vs someone like Biden. I mean she would run circles around him on a stage in a live unscripted exchange. Probably why some of the bigger donors are getting behind her.

I personally would never vote for her tho. Her hawkishness is a big no no for me

Nikki Haley - Rand Paul top ticket. balance her common sense domestic policy and pragmatic approach to legislation with his anti intervention and limited govt stances.

i'd vote that ticket all day and its been a long ass time since ive voted red top ticket in general potus.

She does very well, I haven't seen a demographic breakdown, but I assume she's killing it with the white collar, fiscally conscious crowd. My parents believe Trump is Hitler and DeSantis is the devil himself, and it sounds like they're all aboard the Haley train.

My problem is that she's too at peace with the status quo. Society as it is won't stand. Left-wing bureaucracies need to be fundamentally reformed. Corporate interests are no longer aligned with healthy social values. She'd beat Biden, for sure, but it's a big step back.

Oil and water, they basically are on opposite ends of Republican party.

This is actually a really interesting election, think there's a strong chance at least one of them gets pushed out, leaning towards Biden. I seen odds giving Trump 42%, Biden 31%, Newsom 14% and Hailey 10% at wining Potus.

If I had to guess I think Newsom replacing Biden actually has a chance.
