How the fuck do you think USA dominated the entire world up till now.

The dollar was pegged at $35 an ounce, and freely exchangeable into gold at that rate. However, by 1971, convertibility into gold was no longer viable as America's gold resources drained away. Instead, the dollar became a pure fiat currency (decoupled from any physical store of value), until the Petrodollar Agreement was concluded by President Richard Nixon and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in 1973.

Controversial absolutely. You owe it to him and Nixon.

He is a true American. People might view him as evil etc etc. But I have great respect for him. Strategically , he put USA on the map controlling and maintaining her dominance.
Created the Petro Dollar to control the world economy. Kept the Soviets at bay. Prevented Communism from spreading to South East Asia affecting the Straits of Malacca etc etc etc.

he's responsible for a LOT of the international hostility towards the united states because of his policy decisions + agenda. yeah, he was smart and had no morals so he was an "effective" diplomat. if thats your standard for a good person then we're speaking different languages here
millions and millions of innocent people would be alive today if it werent for him. it's a shame he died of old age and not by the fists of a Laotian

How many statesmen get to live to see their real legacies and own up to their mistakes and own their triumphs and judge their own place in history?
If you look at Kissinger and see some ideologue who represents a worldview you oppose, you're simply wrong. If you've lived with the benefit of the pax americana and can't comprehend the infinite chaos of how history could have unfolded otherwise, you can't judge him as a simple thumbs up or down. Sealing a peaceful coexistence with China, folding the mideast into our sphere of influence, navigated the cold war to its later cold ending, winding down vietnam- you can cry over the eggs he broke, but only someone with no imagination could mistake it as a terrible legacy. At least there was a base intent behind his machinations, a goal and purpose. America securing its own self-interests, peace and disengagement when aggression would have been self-defeating. Its a lecture Kissinger lived long enough to give to deaf ears
