Hello. Just wondering what the family law is like where you live, and whether it influences your decision to want to, or not want to, get married.
Here, in a marriage, one spouse is liable for the debt the other spouse took on during the course of their marriage. Also, unless a prenup was drawn up, one could lose half of his/her assets in a divorce. And the worse thing is that I've heard that prenups have been overturned in court before, so even if you had a prenup, you could still get your clock cleaned. This is very scary, and is a big reason that I don't ever want to get married. I don't have a lot of assets, but I have a lil bit of money, if I lost half of it, I would be devastated.
I know that in some places in the US, men are required by law to pay child support to his ex-wife and his kids. If he can't pay for whatever reason, let's say he lost his job, which is understandable, he goes to jail. I really think this is BS and needs to be changed. Otherwise men will all be too scared to get married.
I don't think you'll have to worry about getting married
