at the heart of this debate is the idea that parents should be kept in the loop on whatever is happening with their kids vs the idea that the government (presumably a lefty one) knows what is best for children over the parents and can keep parents out of the loop on significant lifestyle changes for their children.

Neither side should have total control over what the children get to learn. No sane person can want a government with the unchecked power to indoctrinate our children, but there are also cases of insane or really stupid or brainwashed parents who are trying to keep their children inside their own, pernicious world of thought. Think of sects or religious fundamentalists. So there do exist situations in which I would accept the government taking the education of children away from their parents.

But just to be clear: in the majority of cases, I will side with the parents over the government. There is no good reason imaginable for the government to hide the things the children are being taught in school from their parents.

parents already have a strong say in how the education system sets its criteria standrad and material every year

i know because several people in my family are a part of it

i disagree here man, i think schools are overstepping themselves with forced LGBTQ+ curriculums.

when i was in school (canadian btw), these subjects were introduced started in grade 3 (10 years old) from my recollection. This was purely from an anatomy standpoint to understand your own body and this was then built upon to grade 8, continued in grade 9 and 10 if you decided to take gym class.

kids should be allowed to be kids, being alive is already confusing as it is and we should not be making it more confusing for them. schools should be a place of understanding and education - however - it doesn't mean it needs to be shoved down everyone's throat especially at such young ages. teach them to be accepting of everyone and teach empathy over this crap.

The fact people even need to protest this shows how far we have fallen as a country. In a non clown world the first person who suggested any of this garbage would have been jailed.
