So this seems like a pretty big deal, an Indian diplomat has already been expelled over this, I can't imagine Trudeau would make the claim without clear evidence so I assume sanctions will follow eventually

Will be interesting to see how other western nations react to this news, specifically the US. Canada also has a pretty large population of recent immigrants from India so I'm curious how they will react to this if things escalate.

Nothing will happen. The US will keep the Canadian Government under control. They need the Indians to choke the Chinese.

It is a serious accusation to make for the leader of a country, I doubt they didn't discuss this with the US before Trudeau came out with it, which is why I think it could be significant in terms of the US-India relationship.

How do they choke the Chinese? They are a part of BRICS and apart from the stick battles on the border things are quite chill between them aren't they? India has also been increasingly independent, I'm not sure they could be pushed into a serious conflict against their interests very easily.

I know that has historically been why the west maintained relations with India but things are changing quite quickly, in my eyes India seems much more aligned with Russia and China than the West

Or rather, they seem to want to be neutral, which to the West is the same thing as being aligned with Russia and China

This on the heels of India giving Trudeau the cold shoulder during the G20 summit. Can't wait for this to blow up in Trudeau's face similarly to how Biden handled the Khashoogi thing.

Relations between India and Canada have been tense over a range of issues, including a decision by Ottawa earlier this month to pause talks on a proposed trade treaty with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Modi, who held bilateral meetings with many world leaders during the G20 summit, did not hold one with Trudeau.

Yeah there has been a bit of tension between Canada and India about the Khalistan movement, which is viewed as a national security threat in India but Canada has welcomed members of the group and had them to government functions

Because so many people have moved here from India, Canadian Netflix now has a bunch of bollywood movies on it lol

Yeah it could be pretty bad, will have to see how US publications handle it, if it gets ignored nothing will come of it but if they pick it up I assume that means the West is done courting India and will proceed to vilify them

Although India is part of BRICS, they are considered the weakest link in the system. Border conflicts with China on one side, with Pakistan on the other and Kashmir.
They have always been independent and considered as an unaligned nation.
Although " Democratic" in a sense and practicing common law due to her history of being a colony, it does not ally itself towards the West. And the India Pakistan war have seen the Russians Supporting India and the West including China supporting Pakistan previously.

But at the moment, the West...mainly United States need India by the West side. Given the blind eye that the West have given to the Indians and allow her to trade with Russia with almost no consequence is an obvious strategy to try to get India as close to the West as possible.

Therefore, the death of the Sikh Gentlemen will be of little importance.

Most of the people coming from India to Canada come here to work low wage service or agricultural jobs, with little chance for promotion

It is messed up, our government advertises there telling people they can come work in Canada for high wages but the cost of living is so high they don't actually make much money after expenses so they basically get stuck here as wage slaves working dead end jobs
