Fat acceptance has gone too far and has now become encouragement and glorification of obesity

Real body positivity is encouraging healthy behaviour. Treating your body positively.

It's always nice to have such a companion on a hike.

Overweight, is the polite word. Use that instead, to invite respect and openness to the debate.

Obesity and overweight is about psychology. But of course it is futile to complain when safety hinders someone too overweight from taking a theme park ride.
