AI is here to stay.

But what are the ramifications of human created Artificial Intelligence?
Will AI play a role in swaying political views?
Is AI a new religion?
Can AI be used as a tool to control how people think, for better, or for worse?
Who decides what's censored on AI and should they be allowed to censor AI?

I'd like this thread to stick to the topic of AI in regards to politics and even religion.
Any brave soul willing to kick us off with their thoughts?

AI will have ramifications in automation, i dont see how it will change politicization and polarization that much. right now they pay people to make ridiculous political ads, what will having a robot do change?

In my line of work (psychotherapy), one of the considerations for AI is how it may affect those struggling with compulsions for child pornography. As it currently stands, anything that is fictitious is both legal and not subject to the mandated reporting that I and my colleagues are ethically bound to. So, people are free to consume things that are written (erotica) and drawn (shota/loli). With the advancements in AI now, to the point of images being photorealistic and full-on videos (with sound) being generated by AI, an ethical consideration comes into play about the legality of AI-generated child pornography and whether it would be subject to mandated reporting. Arguably there's no actual person harmed in anything generated by AI; however, there is consideration about the data used by the AI because what happens if the AI generates a 'child' based off a dataset that includes real-world children--including, perhaps, one's own?

I remember when people said this about facebook and twitter, etc.

Look how that turned out.

AI is progressing, it's not a stupid meme anymore. Most avg people don't even begin to understand the complexity of AI today.
It will shape and change people in the world and the information they have available at their fingertips.

I guess I should have waited 20 years for when the media has properly brainwashed people into understanding AI's power and potential.

sure, my point is the media is already doing a near perfect job of brainwashing people. AI might make it easier for them and more profitable, i just dont see the massive step up specifically.

IMHO:

Yet AI effects on our society are potentially pretty bad because it's used for human interactions: to impersonate humans or to alienate humans instead of doing purely finished physical actions like you know... Building, mining, or taking care of someone sick /e like a senile person...

Deep learning is used to make industry chain lines better, in R&D, simulation, flow optimization... The day it effectively fully join robotics it will be huge. not talking about military.

It's important to differentiate Robotics and AI. They are two different categories.
The biggest thing the media is push into peoples mind with AI is,.. "Dey Gunna Take Ur Jorb!"

The reality is that AI won't take people's jobs,. A person controlling AI will take people's jobs.
And I WELCOME IT~! There is so much potential for automation in the work force.
AI is already capable of stepping in, It just needs to be proven and hardened.

This tires directly into Robotics VS AI.
Sure AI can make leaps and bounds of progress but it's only good behind a computer screen.
Robotics needs to catch up with AI at this point.
