Hello. I don't know if there is a registry where people who want to start a new political party can formally register the name of their party. In my country, Elections Canada maintains the registration of federal political parties. But I am not sure about the US.

I mean, if someone started his own party and called it the democratic party, could the actual democratic party sue him or do anything about it?
