Given Hunter Biden was messaging Henry Zhao, a communist party official and director of an 'investment fund' that 12 days later paid $5 million that was disbursed to the Biden family through a slush fund, there's no possible way for Joe Biden to pretend this wasn't overt corruption. The IRS investigation turned up evidence of Biden's bribery and wanted to investigate, but whistleblowers said the DoJ intentionally quashed those efforts. We know money went directly to Hunter Biden and Joe Biden's other relatives, and we know Hunter Biden was complaining in his own messages that his father was taking 'half' of it. And the investigation shows that Hunter took at least $8.3 million from Ukraine, China & Romania, and still indicates that Joe Biden took at least $5 million for himself. And Hunter's claim to Zhao directly contradicts Joe Biden's defense that he claimed he knew nothing about Hunter's business and wasn't involved in any way
So what's the Biden line now?
I think logically, without any further shoes to drop, Joe could try to dig in by claiming that Hunter Biden was lying about Joe being in the car with him, that it was a bluff while Hunter shook down the Chinese on his own. Karine Jean-Pierre was aggressively needled with questions by reporters yesterday trying to get the White House to take a position and give an excuse, but instead she maxed her D/A/E and refused to answer the smallest detail. It seems that the only Democratic playing cards left are silence and distraction. I don't think Joe Biden admitting he took millions from hostile foreign actors known for bribery, then turning around and claiming it was all legitimate and not bribes, would be a plausible move at this point.
For the Republicans, it seems like their timing has been inopportune so far. They clearly want to slow roll investigations and impeachment in order to maximize its impact on the next election cycle, because if they pushed for it now it would squander its damage by simply being forgotten. They know they cannot remove Biden from office through congress, only the vote, and its simple logic that either Joe Biden would not step down, or if he did it would only be to give the democrats a more effective 2024 ticket, either way to the detriment of house Republicans.
But here were are with smoking guns aplenty. For all the baseless investigations into Trump and all the furor over his most harmless, inane or actually justified actions- here we've got Joe Biden taking millions in bribes from our enemies.
Even with the most obedient and feckless media to carry water for him, he can't tread it indefinitely.
