yo guys i need to share my thoughts, listen:

short foreword:
as a few of you should have recognized, i do question the capitalistic system for a longer time. i do compare capitalism to the evil. yes. it produces greed, envy, suffer, inferiority complexes etc. almost every problem can be traced back to capitalism. as you know, capitalism systematically dispossesses the small ones.

My thoughts:

Back in the days (~1990) when geniusses like our beloved Blizzard Team especially Matt Uelmen showed off one of the greatest and most powerful games, no not games, WORLDS like Diablo and Warcraft, the capitalistic system was at another point where it is at the moment. the "pressure" to deliver (make $$ to any price) was a way lower then it is today. producers focused alot more on QUALITY then quantity.
Over the time, alot of weird expansions of WOW later, a semigood diablo 3 compared to diablo 2, blizzard in my understanding focused (guess forced due system) more and more on being capitalistic economically instead on delivering quality. This went so far, REAL blizzard was so broke and demolished, and then got bought off by ACTIVISION, doing same job they do the past 10 years (showing Quantity instead of Quality), but not doing the job they done 20 years ago. showing QUALITY. Now you got games like diablo immortal, a pay to win game, followed by a diablo VI, which hm yaa, we will see what will happen when its online.. completely based on a capitalistic econimically way to make $$ instead of bringing FUN, what a game should do.
When i bought the Demo version of Diablo II in computerbildspiele (german magazine back in the days) i was completely mesmerized by the game music until this day. how often did i just opened the game, went into an act, turned on music loud, and just enjoyed that masterpiece of composition.. and how often i was upset you couldnt listen to the music without or lower soundeffects x'd...

Why i say Blizzard slayed by Diablo himself?
somehow, the gamecontent of Diablo II isnt far away from religion in my opinion. It talks about the 7 death sins, envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth and anger. all around the world where capitalism prevails you can see that issue.
in this example i use diablo not just like the endboss of act 4, the lord of terror, hes a synonyme for all deadly sins. THE evil, who soaked off the rest of unique worlddesign of the last remaining blizzard peoples...

What i want to say is, that Diablo himself roasted Blizzard :(
Diabloparadoxon?

Shouldnt we support artful potential? like there was 20 years ago? instead of systematicly destroy it due aggravating guidlines of the system?
i sincerely hope for a future in which art like diablo 2 becomes great again. A future where Matt Uelmen is recognized more then this strange stuff on TV today...

You know how to make Blizzard again? i know a way, but alot of you somehow dont like the idea... and you know why? Diablo walkes the Earth.

How can one meaningfully support art in a capitalistic society aside from paying or otherwise being part of money-generation for the creator(s)?

no true artist is fundamentally interested in money or anything like that

listen to this and tell me he just wanted to make money. earning money is a sideeffect of being successful in art, but not the basic idea

and if i read it again, and read between the lines, i can see the typical attitude of those, who cant understand the point of art. dont see it as offense! it is a widespread plague caused by capitalism itself. DIABLO HIMSELF

Let me ask it this way: How much work do you think the people who created Diablo II put into it?

Video games companies have always been a business, where the principal driving force behind the companies existence is to produce a profit.

This doesn't mean that they are not making art at the same time, they are not mutually exclusive.

In societies that villify profit & capitalism, how much art do you think is produced?

Going from the evidence - next to none. No art allowed in North Korea, only portraits of the dear leader.

Thats a romantic view and all - but not an entirely true one.

Blizzard North of course also wanted to make big money. And they did. They did it the way it had to be done 25 years ago, which was selling the game. No service, no transactions. The only Way to sell a game was to make it good.

This still works, companies like Nintendo, Sony SM or From Software are proof of that, but there is also other ways nowadays. Sometimes you earn more if you hold back on quality to sell quality. Thats how it is unfortunately. Has nothing to do with the devil. Its a way of making money.

Well exactly. Its a way of making money. The greed is there, a sin which controls the capitalists minds. Holding back quality to earn money is not a way to support art, its a way to support scam. Money DOES reduces the delivery of ART. Thats the point.
