I'm convinced anyone who argues for returning to on-site is an outright paid shill; never met a single person irl who said they prefer on site only.
Not a paid shill at all, only work from the office. Even during Covid closure I have a key to the office and went every single day despite it being shut down. I can not stand working from home. Didn't work a single day, not one, from home during Covid.
I have no commute, though. That would be the ultimate factor for me. If im giving up more than 40 minutes of my life per day commuting (aggregate of both ways), that's where I draw the line.
My view on the matter though is pretty simple. What does productivity say now compared to before? Is work still getting done effectively? Obviously anyone who has to roll out of bed at 6am, commute 2 hours, work till 5 or 6, commute 2 hours would want to work from home and its obviously justified. Not only did you give up your time but you gave up additional time via money spent commuting so you're probably out 4.5-5 hours realistically if not more if you own a vehicle solely for commuting to work.
If work is still getting done effectively at home, so be it.
