I would go by the polls too... except for one thing. They were ALL wrong in 2016. They all said Hillary would wipe out Trump, and she barely won the popular vote, by a measly 3 million.

I think "ALL wrong"is a bit of a stretch.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/national-polls/

AZ - projected Trump 2.5, actual Trump 3.5
CO - projected Clinton 4.0, actual Clinton 5.0
FL - projected Clinton 0.5, actual Trump 1.0
GA - projected Trump 4.0, actual Trump 5.0
IA - projected Trump 3.0, actual Trump 10.0
MI - projected Clinton 4.0, actual Trump 0.5
MN - projected Clinton 6.0, actual Clinton 1.5
NV - projected Clinton 1.0, actual Clinton 2.5
NH - projected Clinton 3.5, actual Clinton 2.0
NC - projected Clinton 0.5, actual Trump 3.5
OH - projected Trump 2.0, actual Trump 7.0
PA - projected Clinton 3.5, actual Trump 0.5
VA - projected Clinton 5.5, actual 5.5
WI - projected Clinton 5.0, actual Trump 0.5

I bolded the swing states (polled more) that were off by more than 4.

Here it is, to the best of my recollection:

We will move through the process without ever having determined who won Michigan. The litigation will drag on past the inauguration. Laws will have to be rewritten because of this result which seems inconsistent with the current rules. This year will be remembered infamously for "the result that never was". School children in the year 2140 will know the jokes about Michigan being "divided" (split into 2 parts Upper peninsula vs mainland) just as we know the stories about Moses parting the Red Sea. I'm not saying that I am a time traveler who was born in 2125. But if someone was a time-traveler born in 2125, then this is the one aspect of the result that would stick out clearly in their memory. The rest of the states, naturally, get a bit hazy since it was so long ago. I'm trying to jog my memory on them, but the rest of the results weren't really famous enough to be remembered (so I can only get roughly close to the final score).

138,847,000 voted in 2016

Popular vote:

65853514 - 62984828 = 2868686

(138847000 / 2868686) x 100 => 2,066%

/e : and 3kk is 1.66% of 180kk
