I turn 35 in 10 years. Keep an eye out.
Hope I have enough built up to be a mini-Soros in Ohio.
I have some tools too. I have a list of anybody whose ever donated money to the campaign of the most progressive mayor in our city's history. Like 15k progressive donors. I try to help smaller nonprofits with development in exchange for whatever I can get out of the experience. I've been able to do this through a regional macro funder. We got allies on the city council, did some real SWJ work and got legislation banning gender conversion therapy in our city limits. Small but this stuff is incremental.
The CEO of the funder will join the city council this next election unless some deus ex machina occurs. The eye is on the mayors office which is pretty prestigious and serious. Its gonna cost a million dollars probably to get someone in there...huge entry price on that election. Anyone can run for council. With the mayor we have P&G, GE, Macys, scripts, and a few other business empires that like to keep that office to themselves.
They tried to privatize our parks and start charging admission and "developing" our collective natural spaces to include condos and retail. Disgusting. We have plenty of that and natural beauty is becoming too rare.
