There is no statistical test that spits out "significant" and you don't have to think further than that. You always have to account for real world circumstances when interpreting your data.

Let's say I get in my car and push on the accelerator, and write down my speed every 5 seconds. For a full 20 samples my speed increases. Based on this data, if conclusions drawn from math are objective, you can only conclude that my car slowing down is an impossibility as long as I have my foot on the accelerator. After all, 100% of samples resulted in an increase from the previous.

This is of course ridiculous, because you aren't accounting for real-world factors that influenced the gathering of your statistics, and it's up to you to make a subjective judgement of what is important. Is the number of trees I drove by important? No, I don't think so. Is the amount of gas in my tank important? I'd say very.

Thinking that conclusions drawn from statistics are objective is something that people with very little statistical training tend to do, and basically nobody with any real understanding of statistics ever does.
