The media has hyped up the race issue, so polls show more Americans feel the issues need resolved, and you want to attribute that to some vague movement of hoodlums holding up signs with a non-creative slogan?

I hope Pew is paying you for all this advertisement. That's all you seem to know how to do... post links to polls.

Why do you think the media has hyped up race issues in America? Why do you think the media has been covering police incidents more often lately?

Just random chance?

No. The Black Lives Matter movement has MADE this more of an issue. That's why it's a topic. That's why we are hearing more about it.

Edit: And yeah, I just don't talk out of my butt. I post data to back up my claims. And Pew Research is a very credible and reputable source.

The media has hyped up race issues because Michael Brown was gunned down and people protested. They covered the story obsessively because the media knows conflict brings ratings. It had nothing to do with the blacklivesmatter movement. They are a small group of protesters. Most protesters don't belong to some twitter group.

You bring Pew polls in when they don't even directly inform the current discussion.

...we are hearing more about it because of the preponderance of social media not because of some current movement . When compared to groups like the Black Panthers the Black Lives Matter movement is a warm glass of milk .

You said it yourself. When Michael Brown died, it became a social media sensation. Black Lives Matters started trending worldwide and it became a movement. The Black community rallied behind the city of Ferguson and the BLM movement. The BLM has everything to do with why race is a more current and relevant topic in our mainstream media outlets.

Pew Polls show the average American thinks more should be done in America to solve race-related issues, even among Republicans. This isn't random increase. The increase is significant, and it has everything to do with mainstream media coverage of race issues in America, which were made a hot-topic by the BLM movement and its corresponding social media presence.

Black lives matter was a bumper sticker for the victim community for a time, and then a small group of social media activists tried to turn it into a unified movement.

Sorry, BLM has no influence on anything, expect interrupting 80 year old wimps trying to get 10% in the polls.

So you think the large increase in the % of Americans that thinks the US needs to continue making changes to give blacks equal rights with whites is simply random?

You don't think the social media presence of BLM corresponding with the death of Michael Brown increased mainstream media's attention on race issues in the US at all?

It seems like you dislike the BLM movement and want to give them zero credit for any of the changes you see in this Pew research.

That's fine. You don't have to give them credit. The progress is already being made, whether you like it or not or think that it is happening or not; Americans' minds, including Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, are being changed across the board on race issues in America. And yes, the BLM movement and its huge social media presence over the past year has something to do with these changes.

..you're so obsessed with graphs and charts you can't see the forest for the trees . People are giving lip service and nothing but lip service to improving race relations and because it's reflected in a poll you actually believe it's happening .

Why do you keep re-posting the same information? Are you insecure about the points you are making?

Are you trying to merge any social media activity or protest into the blacklivesmatter group? Otherwise we can both agree blacklivesmatter had little to do with the race issues getting attention. The media picked up on the first case, and after that day the national media decided blacks dying at the hands of police was worth covering. You actually think the number of blacks killed by police in the past couple years has gone up?

Obviously not. You're missing the crux of my argument, so I'll skip that part.

The number of blacks killed by police isn't any higher than most years. It's simply generated more media coverage.

Why didn't the media cover this issue more in the past? You said yourself it makes for good ratings. You said yourself this issue hasn't gotten drastically worse all of a sudden.

I'll tell you why. It's because people have started to make a big deal about it on social media. Twitter was blowing up during the Ferguson case. The BLM was at the epicenter of that social media campaign. #BlackLivesMatters was trending everyday for months. The media had to cover it.

And now that the media is covering it, we see change in Americans' minds on race issues. This isn't complicated to understand. I feel like my logical argument back by data and statistics is being lost on someone who has a hard opinion on something and won't change it no matter what.

Your data and statistics show more people are concerned about "racial issues". That produces more social media traffic on "racial issues". You aren't making a logical argument, lol. You are saying a certain small group of protesters/social media activists started identifying themselves as "blacklivesmatter", so "blacklivesmatter" is responsible for the typical American being more concerned with racial issues.
