The Jacob Javitz center was the only temp hospital used afaik.
That would definitely be better than a tent city, but even the largest hotel in New York only has 1900 rooms, so they would have needed to take out a ton of hotels, and would have needed a huge amount of staffing to take care of the patients. These aren't just elderly people, they're elderly people recovering from Covid who can't stay in the hospital for an additional 2 weeks.
Taking emergency measures to turn hotels might have been viable, but its not a silver bullet.
