We really don't need a way to replace it. We are just going to go back to the status quo of 2019. Oh, the horror!

This is a blatant lie. Upon being sworn in, one of the first actions of the Biden admin was to revoke the "Remain in Mexico" policy (MPP) and to rescind a lot of obscure but consequential Trump era provisions, regulations and executive orders which were intended to curb the influx of immigrants across the southern border. Courts forced the Biden admin to reinstate the MPP later last year, a decision against which Biden's DoJ is fighting ever since. In spite of this, the Biden admin has gutted and hollowed out the MPP, to the point that the current program "bears little resemblance to Trump's version":

So no, the handling of migrants at the border will not go back to what it was in 2019, it will switch to a much more lenient state. And that is against the backdrop of already very high levels of border crossings that we saw in 2021:

I guess the 50% swings against Democrats that we saw in some Rio Grande Valley counties in Southern Texas in the 2020 elections weren't enough of a warning sign for Democrats.

Such a badass. Trailer park racist who dreams of attacking migrants but is too much of a pussy to do anything but post on the internet.

Man, I'd be nostalgic if where I grew up wasn't such a shit hole

My soul will have to wait.

The pressure on the border went down in the aftermath of the Great Recession because America's economy was in the shitter, there's even a South Park episode from 2011 or so on how the Mexicans don't want to come to America anymore. Also note that the current Biden admin is well to the left of Obama on migration policy.

When there was a looming surge in late 2018, Trump at least tried to do something about it by implementing the MPP and similar policies while Biden's response to the 2021 surge is to (try to) loosen things even further. We don't know how high the number of border crossings would have been in 2019 without Trump's policies. It's not unrealistic that we could have seen 2021 levels of border crossings in 2019 if not for Trump's actions. This is the "prevention paradox" that you liberals loved to invoke when it came to covid.

Anyhow... we know for a fact that the situation at the border got dramatically worse as soon as Biden was sworn in and that it was far worse in 2021 than in Trump's worst year (2019), which strongly hints at all these smaller Trump era provisions and EOs (which Biden rescinded upon taking office) making a difference. Also note that the 2021 numbers were with Title 42 still in place. The only logically sound conclusion is to assume that Title 42's revocation will further increase the pressure on the border.

Obama was far to the right of Biden on a lot of issues, whether we can chalk that up to the person or the party. Obama cracked down on illegal immigrants nearly as much as Trump did, and that wasn't the only issue

course that one might not be true anymore thanks to Aung San Suu Kyi
Anyway yeah Biden is the first president we're going to see with a true liberal "open the floodgates" mentality to illegal immigration, and that's only been delayed by Covid. Will he buck his party without the excuse of Title 42? I don't see any reason to think so. We're going to see a swarm at the border

No, you are wrong. Obama basically opened the borders in totality and wanted to flood America with immigrants.
