Yes, now that you mention his name, I've heard about him before and he seems to be a super decent guy and a strong candidate. I just wonder if he's liberal/progressive enough for the Democratic party in a hypothetical 2024 environment.
The question essentially boils down to who will win the internal debate after a lost 2020 race: the progressives saying that Clinton and Biden lost because the party didnt move far enough to the left and nominated two uninspiring swamp creatures; or those saying that the party lost because it went too far in a sjw direction and should now emulate what Clinton (the successful one) did in 92 to break the Republican streak, i.e. move to the center.

If the latter group prevails, Sherrod Brown might be a great candidate. If the "Bernie/AOC wing" of the party prevails, then god knows who would be a tier 1 representative from their ranks...

we're currently in the middle of a pandemic where healthcare is failing, food shortages are happening, wages are disappearing for middle america, etc. and yet support for far left progressive ideas are still about constant. sure u see some "wouldnt it be nice if we had universal healthcare" memes, but support is still tepid at best. if a pandemic doesnt largely move the needle in short order nothing will. as ive said all along the far left is just loud, moderate democrats still rule the roost.

The Democratic party has a very wide umbrella because it doesn't demand submission like the GOP.

Well, Congress and even Trump have buried the short-term economic woes under trillions of dollars. If there is a slow and painful, years-long recovery instead of a V- or U-shaped comeback, many more Americans are gonna feel the pain first-hand. This, coupled with another 4 years of Trump madness, might perhaps get socialist ideas over the hump. But you're right, it looks very unlikely atm.

that's silly. unless you're of the opinion all republicans are KKK members. they accept nazis, KKKlansman, far right leaning bozos, and even libertarians. they melded with the tea party. etc. plenty of examples of intersectional politics from the right.

So you can work with a Democrat as a republican without being called a RINO, cut off $, and primaried by someone who will lick party boots?

Who has done this and survived?

I smell something...smells like some bullshit.

There is a party line to be toed and they have to obey.

The parties are nearly identical in size, and the diversity of politics is greater in the Republican arena. Democrats are losing voters to both the republican party and the independents due to the demand that it's base bow to the power of progressivism, socialism, and identity politics.

The democratic party is cancer, and the idea that you can claim it doesn't demand submission after the 2016 primaries and the Wikileaks dump says you're either a liar, or the most ignorant shill on the planet.

And don't for a second try to "Claim" Independents. Trump won independents. Which is why he won 2016. :)

The Republican party has based their platform around white identity politics.

Here you go, calling me names again. Whatever autismbob.

if your memory extends only to Obama sure. remember when the Iraq war was a nearly universally voted for bipartisan effort? sure sure based on lies, bad intel, w/e. but that was the last bipartisan effort we had. anything since then has been peanuts. it goes both ways, neither side is willing to budge over the line.

The republican party has nothing to do with identity politics at all. If you're referring to basing the platform around working class citizens and legal immigrants of the United States, that's a good thing.

It's funny, you've literally sat there and "called names" in every nonsensical post you've made, and claimed to be a victim. Socialism at work I guess?

Last bipartisan thing we did was criminal justice reform recently.

Maybe you're too young to remember the code words.
