i grew up living near a lady with a similar mentality like this. we used this empty lot as a field to play all sorts of sports, and used the small trees (prob 6-7 feet tall) as 1st and 3rd bases for baseball. and if we grabbed onto them she’d run out screaming at us for “destroying nature”

one day we went to go play and the trees all had barbed wire around them lmao it was the most absurd thing ever. bear in mind this was in the later 90s and i was like 8 or 9 at the time cant imagine how bad it would be now, im sure the lady would have shot us nowadays

I don't know much of anything about Hungary and Orban. As a general matter I'm not offended by nations that pass certain anti-LGBT laws, whether it be in regards to marriage or adoption. In fact I support them, although they aren't the most important issues I'm concerned with. But the American right-wing's move towards authoritarianism is concerning to me, partly because it could've ended American democracy as we know it in 2020, and it very well could in 2024.

i love how there is a massive powergrab and attempt to overthrow the current system to ensure permanent power for the democrats going on right now and there are still people who are concerned with an authoritarian right

even if that is true, you have a much bigger problem as we speak with the authoritarian left

you have the likes of AOC running around in the capitol, some nutjobs with no official power should be your least concern

the first article says it already, hungary is a homogenous state and their citizens clearly intend to keep it this way

they are the next candidate to leave the EU, orban and friends are trying to grab some money before the inevitable happens

hungarians reject illegal mass migration and brussels ruling over them and the EU cant deal with it (as if the EU truly cares about LGBTQ laws, this is bullshit)

it looks like they are ready to possibly sacrifice some wealth, if that ensures keeping up traditions and independence

the country has great potential though, with competent leadership overall (probably not orban) they could totally be another switzerland in europe

one thing is for sure, hungary will continue to exist, germany and france will be finished soon
