I think It will just cause Israel to rush in and finish the job quicker
More casualties, more pain more suffering
The US should have backed us up to finish Hamas
now that we know that on the money time they throwing us under the bus the reaction will be devastating.

You give too much credit to our gov.
I’m sure that they’ll crumble.
I hope that I’m wrong though.. otherwise we’ll have to march in Gaza ourselves to finish the job.

I think its non binding. So I am not sure. But the issue is too complex for me to even comment.

non-binding as I understand it.

Still don't think this changes anything on the ground most likely but it's a pretty big geopolitical signal from the US. I really think it will have an effect in the elections, just another nick that will aid in Biden losing the election.

yes more votes to Trump, at this point it looks like Trump will win, not sure he will stomach what the Israeli's are doing though, or what they will do next.

There is likely to be a follow up to this resolution - the political fall out is massive. Israel basically have zero allies now (for their current strategy/policy) as no body wants to be a part of mass ethnic cleansing / genocide / forced famine and stealing etc. It is really problematic for Israels leaders because there clearly exists a culture of killing they deem to be "lesser beings" or untermenchen, and this is not a minority view as can be evidenced over the last few decades. It remains to be seen if the current Israel (gov, IDF, fanatical supporters) shows cultural remorse but it does not like likely, from what I have read the culture is far too embedded. There is a large group that does not see that what they are doing is wrong, which is the fundamental issue. In situations like this the group is typically smaller. I would hold the US responsible to a large degree as they allowed Israeli governments to do things that no one should be allowed to do.

The likelihood now is that Israel will lose the case in the ICC with what follows next, but thats years down the tracks. I would expect in the meantime atrocities and mass murder in the coming weeks, and I expect them to go ahead and claim parts of Gaza as their own and continue doing what they are doing, in Gaza, the West Bank and elsewhere (ethnic cleansing etc).

it it utterly baffling and a huge political blow.

Most likely. The idea though is never to actually use these weapons but the large missile stockpile of Hezbollah is supposed to act as a deterent to Israel, from striking Iranian targets, within Iran.

A nuclear strike on Lebanon by Israel would make very little sense anyway, considering the closeness.

You can use emp bomb and do it without the blast

Boys..

There's a reason why the entirety of Hezbollahs arsenal is buried in their mountains; so this exact scenario doesn't happen. Israel doesn't need to use nukes when it's airforce is more than capable of glassing Lebanon to dust. The only question is how many missles hezz can fire off, without being targeted.

Fuck the west for cucking out too, they had 6 months to tell the Israelis not to be retarded zoomers and act professionally but now that it matters most and their voter base is getting uppity, this is when they draw the line? Pathetic.

If Israel doesn't take the smugglers tunnels in rafah, hamas will be supplied with Iranian missiles eventually and Egypt will bow down to the new kingpin in the ME: Iran. Never trust uncle sam

Whats your point?

Iran is a crumbling mess of a regime. Turkey is the regional power.

Iran is exporting supersonic missles to the houthis at an alarming pace and is at the forefront of missle/drone technology. They have taken over iraq/syria and if they secure a route to Lebanon it spells disaster for israel. They are currently winning the worldwide proxy war and its not even close.

My original point was that emps are useless against hezbollah and the rest of my words was just the ramblings of madman

I just saw a news clip on Reuters. US abstained instead of Veto.

ye, thats why I started posting in the topic again, it is a material change in the geopolitical landscape.

Here is a Guardian article about it: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/26/benjamin-netanyahu-handling-us-relations-un-israel-gaza-ceasefire-vote it touches on the main sentiment, i.e. that the route israel has taken is utterly daft.
Here is a more indepth (and realistic to my mind) article outlining the US position: https://www.timesofisrael.com/perplexed-by-overreaction-white-house-says-pm-stirring-crisis-in-us-israel-ties/

the comments section in that israeli article are fascinating.

TLDR: it looks like the US is still Israels best friend but there are visible cracks in the relationship at the highest level.
