Kyrsten Sinema has gone independent, might impact what Biden gets through Senate

Does it matter? If she goes true independent and doesn't caucus with Republicans (the same way Bernie Sanders and Angus King caucus with Democrats), then Democrats would still have a 50:49 majority and control all the committees, wouldn't they?

Well, policy is dead anyway for Democrats/Biden, now that the GOP has the House. The main purpose of the Senate for the next 2 years is to confirm judges, cabinet members, high-ranking generals and so on. If Democrats have a proper majority over Republicans, they will also have one more seat in all the committees, which will allow them to get appointments out of there much quicker.
