Pretty pathetic you need to make it out to be "the same". It isn't nearly the same in scope or magnitude. Trump was a cult of personality. Biden is just a regular politician.
The mechanism I described is universal and predates Trump by decades.
The difference between Trump and Biden is in the kind of support and opposition they are getting: Trump had die-hard supporters, call them cultists if you will; there was genuine excitement for him. His support was organic, what was artificial and driven by partisanship was the silence of the Trump-critical elements of the GOP. For Biden, it's the exact opposite: there are very few voices inside the Democratic party who oppose his policy direction*, but there is very little organic excitement for him; it has to be manufactured by party activists and allies in the media.
