A very apt summary of Thor's stance on the issue. ;)
No, seriously, imagine the attorney defending the guy who torched that Target arguing "systemic racism and deprivation have left many of the protesters fucking imbecile, these folks are not very bright and don't know what they're doing. they fell victim to a concerted propaganda effort by the media and progressive groups, the likes of which we haven't seen in decades."
My gripe isn't with the attempt to have consequences for the storming of the Capitol, it's with the language and the shitty arguments from this attorney. People like IceMage would never accept such a lack of "decorum" and such a half-assed attempt at relieving criminals from the personal responsibility for their actions ("it's all Trump's fault, my client dindu nuffing") if it didn't serve the goal of shitting on Trump.
except there's a LOT of evidence to show that right winged terrorists are mentally defective and are in large numbers on the spectrum, whereas there's not any evidence i'm aware of that shows the same for BLM.
Most if not all of the high profile "right winged" shooters show at the least social issues common with on the spectrum people. and it makes sense that they turn anti-liberal narratives violent, because of their natural lack of ability to apply nuance to certain threats. Dylan Roof, El Paso Walmart Guy, 2018 mail bomber, Pittsburgh synagogue shooter, Wisconsin Sihk temple shooter, etc.
the tl;dr of it all is when a strong narrative is broadcast from both the left and the right wings of American politics, the left side sees a general level of property damage and physical attacks on mostly helpless targets, and the right sees mentally deranged people go and get guns and kill people at places of worship or public stores.
I tend to wonder why we haven't seen a left winged nutso in a more high profile crime against police, white people generally, jews, etc. And i think that minorities tend to have a low level PTSD that gives them a far higher propensity for dispair, whereas affluent white people or even poor rural whites tend to see paradigm shifts as more necessary of action to be taken.
