im apathetic about it, your turn
there was a time when i was in agreement with the left about cops
then they turned into criminals and now want to be the cops
i cant help but think the right got played. when the left became super anti cop (which was bullchit) then the right became super blue stripe flag wavers. then they got punked by the cops after jan 6th
any way i am basically apathetic about it, your turn and maybe i say more about it
saying you're apathetic about it is a non-answer but I understand because my feelings are also conflicted.
most policemen are good but there seems to be an increasingly large number of them that are bad. I think the position of power that cops are in naturally attracts some bad apples that see an opportunity to use said power inappropriately.
there is an exorbitant amount of fiscal waste in most police departments - just like most government agencies. a good portion of the budget that, lets say, the LAPD gets , should be redirected to other social service agencies to maximize the positive impact of the money that taxpayers spend. spending more on education, social workers, helping at-risk youth, help for the homeless, etc is a much better way at fixing the root of the problems our society faces than giving police more money to spend on the latest riot gear
I dont envy policemen; its a difficult, incredibly stressful job that they're often not trained to do properly. I truly believe that they should be licensed just like barbers or teachers or nurses so that if they are found guilty of misconduct, their licensed is suspended or stripped and they're subsequently ineligible to just get another police job in a different town. qualified immunity is absolute horseshit
