Republicans attack Obama to this day for entering the White House as "inexperienced" despite the fact that the was a congressman in Illinois at both the state and federal level.
Those same critics...where are they now with Ben Carson? Donald Trump? It's laughable, really.
I had never heard of Barack Obama prior to the Democratic Primary of 2008. I was shocked that he won Iowa and skyrocketed to the top to beat Clinton and Edwards. I thought I was in Oz or something. All my friends were like "he has a vision, he is going to be great!" and I'm like "wtf is this guy? Vote for Clinton stupid, she has the political capital to actually push an agenda". It was mostly my non-politics following friends who were most excited. I was one of those dissenters in 2008, I helped the Clinton Campaign organize in the Ohio primary and she won the state, but it was too late...too much momentum.
I trusted Hillary to accomplish universal health care....I know her heart was in that fight in 2008...instead we have the ACA which is lacking on so many levels despite fixing some very important things. The biggest parts lacking is appropriations for substance abuse issues, which create so many other bigger social problems. Puritanical attitudes still prevailing in some of these areas.
