the timeline is pretty simple:
-JK rowling comes into existence, writes HP
-JK rowling spends 10 years or so retconning her own series with liberal ideas she didnt write into the book because she's a card carrying liberal
-JK rowling responds to a tweet that used the term "people who menstruate" basically saying "why cant we use women"
-trans people on twitter went wild
-JK rowling explains that her generation of feminists had to fight the social stigma of menstruation, and feels the phrasing is odd. ends the tweet by saying she supports all trans people and would march with them if their rights were under attack
-trans people on twitter seize on her feminist motivation to label her a TERF which at the time was an uptrending idea in queer spaces, continue to attack her online and make threats against her (not that she's foreign to that, Christian fundamentalists burned her books in the 90s and labeled her a satanist, surely she got death threats then, especially as she read a LOT of fanmail and responded to many people over the years)
-then over the years people "built a case", the idea she's a TERF and HATES TRANS PEOPLE just became fact. the actual words that she'd march with them meant nothing because she went on to be upset about a naked trans woman in a battered woman shelter, a cause she personally has experience with.
the contrast is pretty silly, a woman who was abused in her life physically who comes from a generation that was openly sexually harassed and shamed for menstruation has her perspective erased because she thought it was silly to use gen z PC language, all because she has money. it doesnt take long when you dig in to see people saying she's actually killing trans people with her words and causing them to be attacked.
its almost like if some group spent years attacking you, forcing you to be absent from the 20th year anniversary of your movies, forcing you to use pen names to write anything new, and forcing you off the PR tour for your new movies, while threatening your life and spamming anything you say with the accusation you're a trans murderer you'd grow resentful. and so far that resentment has manifested in a few off color tweets and 1 character from 1 book that crossdressed and killed people.
"massive hateful bigot", give me a break man lol. so much hyperbole.
seems like a good assessment, without reading the next 4 pages i assume fender disagrees without a good argument and instead continues posting giga lefty youtube videos
