It is a lot when compared to the national average. Nearly double in fact. I don't know what statistic you're comparing it to.

I would say the average person would say that 110K is a lot because on average its going to be twice what they make.

Median household income in New York alone is only 70K and that's household, not individual. So I dare say they would also call 110K a lot in an expensive to live city.

Half the people in the U.S. making at least $100K are living paycheck to paycheck. So to say this relief won't be happily accepted by someone just because they make around $100K is silly.

Funny how they set the bar at $125K here, considering democrats used $400K as the threshold for "middle class" with his tax the rich plan.

income cap down makes sense. wish it applied to increases in property taxes on unrealized gains and other hogwash.

how is this even going to be enforced? oh right, the 87k added internal “revenue” ‘service’ agents.

Wait what? Where does the IRS come into play here? Department of Education is the one who is handling this... which is going to suck for them as they're also severely underfunded

....the argument was not would you be happy to receive 10K because you're already doing well. Of course the majority of people are going to be happy with an upfront 10K....... dosen't take much thinking to know that.

Your post was about making 110K not sound like a lot, which based on statistics of median incomes across the country and even in the large cities you referenced 110 by the majority of standards is indeed a lot, double in most cases.

What are you going on about. We are talking about your posts. You are the one that made it sound like 110K is not a lot.

"You act like $110K is a lot. Especially in big higher cost of living cities where it's the minimum."

I showed you that yes the average person in the USA would call 110k a lot even in higher cost cities.

the IRS was never used in verifying income for the Department of Education (least as far as I'm aware). They ask for last year's taxes in addition to the last few paystubs. (or at least they did for my income-based repayments).

Fairly certain it wouldn't be legal for them to share information like that.

Edit: Hence the whole fafsa process instead of them just taking the information directly from the IRS.
