The democrat party should try to persuade people to their platform with actual sound policy choices instead of endlessly shit-slinging. Trump is a racist, a rapist, a Russian asset, an insurrectionist, list never ends.
I was thinking about how the GOP is running a policy free midterm and it turns out, you're right, the Dems are pretty much doing the same thing; its a policy free midterm election. It is pretty shitty tbh. Its too bad Trump didn't just transition after he lost an election and kept up fake election denial stuff until there are dozens of elected officials that are having a Stop the Steal platform that is based on gaslighting and denying the electorate.
But your criticism is fair, it is a policy free midterm. If there was a party of elitist and experts who were focusing on serious problems I would support them, which is what the old school Republican party was. But dishonest evangelicalism segueing into fascism wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross is a terrible cancerous mutation.
The Democratic party was the party of having excellence in public education, access to affordable healthcare, secure housing available to the vast majority of people with robust welfare for individuals who are unable to provide for themselves through disability. Now if a party came out with a platform resembling this and not rethinking the very foundations of our society to their end if they take power instead they would have overwhelming support but it is true that in the US we don't have a moderate party at this point.
When I say rethinking the very foundations of society what i mean is, if the Dems win overwhelmingly (unlikely) we are probably looking at a wave of gun grabbing in the immediate and just more muddling around in foreign and domestic policy, but definitely some gun grabbing, which is changing the social contract for a big.
If the GOP win their platform is: ban abortion, reban gay marriage, anti-CRT in schools (historical revisionism), guns guns guns. No real discernable policy but rather complete rethinking of the social contract. White Supremacy Platform with no actual policy.
Because what is hilarious at this point, when it comes to actual policy, these parties are in harmony, and real policy votes overwhelmingly pass. Because they (Congress) will, 100% of the time, solve problems in the interests of the capitalist ruling class, whose pocket they reside in. White Supremacy is a strong sentiment in the US that the GOP has to capitalize it as the Dems have become the party known for minority rights through their very very slow advocation for them, after they are already overwhelmingly popular in the masses, and focus groups tell them its time to move that way
I'm going to go outside and take a swim before my buddy comes over to do some work on my house. Dude has been working on houses for decades and will do amazing things if I get material, cook a dinner, and give him a couple hundo. And I mean do roofing, chimney work, new gutters, painting, all of it.
