Having a gun has not changed the life of anyone who says it stops the government's tyranny. They bend over and pay taxes, high health insurance rates, obey laws and any other legislation passed or levy's implemented.

Its just a pretend fantasy world where people role play.

I am not an advocate for banning guns but you should absolutely require a licence to purchase them which would take a monetary fee as well as a renewal fee every X years, written examination, practical exam and a background check.

The background checks would be free as the levy from obtaining the licences would fund it.

^ Above is how we do it in Canada, the course is two days in person, background check is 60 days, licence renewals are every 5 years.

Just a friendly reminder. Guns don't kill people, people do. As stated before Austriais the perfect example of owning guns doesn't kill.
Probably a woke madness US thing

Yes I feel the same, a license some proof of insurance must be processed prior to gun purchases. The value or cost of said license could be scaled by "red flags" or by type of firearm you want to hold.
It's an easy answer to me.

And they'll give them up the moment they are ordered to.

Justin Trudeau is trying to freeze handgun sales.

You 'a Canadian citizen' want to talk about government tyranny, look no further.

Yes.
The Taliban won in Afghanistan with much worse weapons.

that's because the govt didn't have the Taliban on a registry (birth certificate, social sec number, home address, IRS records) so they couldn't issue a warrant for their arrest and show up at their place of work and just arrest them, or show up at their doorstep and wait for them to starve.

i am sympathetic to many of the protections against tyranny 2a arguments, but the one of guerrilla warfare victory similar to the Taliban (where something like 1 million citizens died compared to several thousand US soldiers) is moronic, inaccurate, and childish.

I am in complete favour of it. They have zero practical purpose and in Canada you already can't use a handgun for wilderness protection, typically only non-restrited rifles and shotguns.

Handguns have absolutely no purpose under our current laws anyway.
