This is just fear porn. Don't want your house broken into? Get a dog and lock your door. It's really that simple. People breaking into homes are crimes of opportunity. There's no secret brigade of men walking around trying to break into every house they find so they can harm you. They're just looking for easy targets to steal from and it's incredibly simple to deter them.
There are all kinds of home invasions in Minneapolis right now, its all over the crime ticker. Carjackings and home invasions are quitte common, at least in 'certain neighborhoods'. Why do you think law abiding and upstanding citizen Amir Locke slept with a gun under his sheets and reacted when armed men pushed into the apartment in the dark of night? In hennepin county in january and february, 22 of the home invasions were down by the same crew using the same MO of breaking into vehicles parked outside and using the garage door opener. Looking at the scanner, no home invasions in last 24 hours, just many carjackings and armed robberies. Its hard to dig up statistics and reports since they are classified as burglaries if nobody was homr
