Your laws are significantly more conservative but the barrier to access is lower compared to several US states. It really varies from state to state. Where I live, my wife can get an abortion while 6 months pregnant, no questions asked. It's a freedom you could only dream of having. Other states require wait times, have to go through a mandatory ultrasound, etc. Ultimately, if you're willing to jump through the hoops, you can abort a fetus much later than you can in most European countries.
You seem to misunderstand conservatives. Do you honestly think that they are intelligent enough to connect the dots that abortion will hurt the poor and minorities? That's not even part of the equation for them.
that's a very biased way of framing it. just because in SOME states you can have later legal abortions than in SOME european countries, doesn't mean that the overall law is "more conservative" in europe (where in SOME countries, it's even illegal for nutjobs to hassle women outside abortion providers). having a guaranteed right (and access to education and healthcare that allows you to make an early and informed decision), which is not under constant threat from one of only two parties, is so much more important - and i'm reasonably certain that you're aware of that, and this is just a failed whataboutism.
the "hoops" you describe there and other legislative loopholes were used by many red states to de facto ban legal abortions for a large part of the lower and middle class in red america already. it's really not a matter of "willing", but a matter of if you're financially (and physically) able to do it - which for many women, especially very young ones, minorities, and poor women, is a resounding no. that's the whole point. that's why american conservatives, given the chance, don't even make exceptions for rape and incest victims.
and yes, that is absolutely part of the equation - conservatives might be evil, but not all of them are completely retarded - and it's not like no one tells them that this will be the outcome. even if they lacked the intellectual capacity to predict the result of their medieval legislation, precedent (not just national, but global) could not be clearer. again, i'm certain you know that, you're just trying to make this sound less absurd than it really is. imagine living in a theocratic oligarchy like that, lol...
